all's well that ends well

there were no mighty storms

there were a couple of mild ones 

that quickly took the heat away

but left high humidity

oh, who cares

the heat is gone and it's back to normal

it's as if the atmosphere itself was too exhausted to rage

now it's in the West

so I expect we shall see the heat again

it is summer after all

hell hath fury...

this is the beginning 

of the end 

of the

hell that has sat on us for these past 11/12 days

storm warnings

high winds

hail

lots of lighting and thunder

and behind it all

what they call a cool front

plus humidity

so keep us in your thoughts

so I tried to make the plants

feel at home

some of my houseplants needed tending so I tended to them in the kitchen sink

and we all felt better

seems there's too much of everything these days

rain dry wet and hot

so let's all just sit back and wait for the cool (er) to come back

here they say next week will bring relief

we are plummeting into the

upper '80's

brrrrrrrr!!!!

patching patches makes patchwork

so glad I found my love of sewing again

one can sew for hours

one can't do much else in this weather 

so why not

cut and patch and sew and stitch

the radio is on

the tunes are all from the '60's and while sing 

I sew and have memories that the music brings with it

I found, on the computer, a few weeks ago an online radio

it was there to be used 

it's free so I do use it

husband says I have to have put it there but I don't remember doing that

it's called

Slacker Radio

 and you get to choose what you listen to by choosing the decade

I waft between the '60's/'70's and a little bit of "now"

it makes me bounce in my seat so that's not all bad

no news to depress you

only a few, very few ads...and if you don't like a song you can change it

it sits up top of the screen 

in the menu thingummyjig 

 and it plays in the background

 as you surf the inter-webs

but back to the patches

I'm learning as I go

try to remember all the tips and tricks I've learnt

 or look up online if I can't remember

the iron is puffing and huffing with steam to keep all those seams orderly

most of the seams are matching because I remembered the 

face seams in opposite directions and they will "lock " together and match up

the fabric cutter is sharp so I have to be careful but working with 2 1/2" strips is too hard

 I've made a few things so far

as you can see

I have a small stack of fabric I hope to get through 

lots of things running around in what is left of my mind

I've been hanging out around those very beautiful

 French embroidery sites and "quilting" places

overload is the condition of the day

I was once described as a 

Beige Person

I don't think that's true anymore

as you see it's going to be stifling this week..the humidity makes it feel hotter so those numbers will be bigger

I feel for the people stuck in it

I won't say a word about what's going on for fear of breaking something

all be it there are still hundreds of thousands without power

shame they can't take care of things that need taking care of

scary how very very broken everything is

and if they don't pay attention and fix it

....

well, I said I wasn't going to say a word

we are fine

but not happy

so we have the fans turning

the a/c turned up, meaning less frigid

it's impossible not to have it on because neither one of us would make it through a heat wave of this proportion...

and we are waiting for winter to return!!!

I know!!!

I still don't feel like knitting or crocheting so I have the

fabulous fantastic fabric flowing far and wide!!!

I've found a source and I am feeding my fabric frenzy

what is so nice about fabric is that you have something in your hands 

in no time at all

little things 

but finished in almost no time

I was making  another pin cushion on Friday when all hell broke loose

I love the crocheted edges... so cute!!!

and all my supplies seem so coordinated!!!

that's a fluke

so this is what I'm doing while outside the air sizzles

the birds pant because they don't sweat

the geese just drift around the lake

no effort put into it

just sit and drift

kind of like those idiots up there in the marble halls of government

(only the geese have morals and decency and ethics)

none of which you would find up  there

stay cool and safe all
