the heat returns....

and all eyes are to the East of us as
"Danielle"
 barrels past
and
EARL
starts his march up the East Coast in a few hours...
then there is
Fiona
and another something behind that
Must be summer in the Atlantic!

Hope all the people in their paths stay safe
and it ends up
much ado about nothing....
fingers crossed!!!

with a little TLC
and a whole lot
of sunshine and fresh (?) air
the little roses
have put on quite a show
Gaudy?
YES,
but it is hot and summery
and they are tiny
so it's OK
to be loud!!!!

I, on the other hand,  am not feeling that terrific these days
I'm border line anemic and I think
I need some iron to chew on!!!
Be back in a while
when I'm not so
spongy!!!

going to sit and read and hook and eat spinach like Popeye!!!
If it doesn't get better
I'll get the liver out...
:p

The garden....again!!

As some of you can't get onto Windows I'll put up a few of the pics here.......

these were at least 7 feet tall

the grass was knee high is places

and just a big tangled prickly mess
loaded with critters of every kind

and now the sun shines upon it once again

you can see the bushes

now it is short and neat and tidy
and the neighbours need to get to work on theirs !!!!

shouldn't be allowed

I just read that the eggs that have been recalled, here in the States,
are destined for use in other items that will land on the shelves of the food stores

read this and wonder
what the hell
 is going on
with food saftey in this country.
It's disgusting and very scary.
Why even risk it?

teeny tiny small

that's what I saw
on my first trip outside
this morning
with the sun just beginning to touch the front of the house

I saw.....
those dried up awful looking tiny roses I bought at the food store
are coming back nicely

the sun on the moss

and a tiny acorn

on a tiny stem of grass
with the seed pods shining

a shadow

the first berry
on a tiny bit of the old woods that I saved

a new mushroom
clean and tidy

unlike the one from
yesterday
who is having a bad hair day
may your day be
clean and tidy
and remember it's the small things that count!!!!!

body all aching' and wracked with pain..

Tote that branch  lift that log
keep on goin'
 til it starts to rain

He gets weary
and  keeps on tryin'
the job keeps growin'
but the weeds is dyin'
he just keeps mowin'
he just keeps mowin' along......

With absolutely no help from me
it is done.

some grass that has the prettiest blue flowers
I rescued some...

the most magnificent mushroom
in morning light

the sun kept going in and coming out

no words needed

Honesty is the best...

(this was written yesterday and finished today...... it's long but I had to write it !!!)

... policy or so they say....
I have not been honest with you
not one bit
and it's no longer necessary
to LIE to you
each and every time I take a photo

I have been hiding a very
messy and tangled secret
Oh yes, I have mentioned it a time or two
given you blurry shots of it
let you imagine
that i was exaggerating a tad
but
I
wasn't.
Here is what the back of our house looked like

a tangled
overgrown
reclaimed by Nature
sort of thing
scary just how fast She took it back
I can tell you!!!!
But in all the tangled mess
and
overgrown abundance there was kind of
a wild and free feeling
......
that kept strangers and loose dogs
from wandering in
and having their way back there
The only creature brave enough
was a neighbours cat
who played
I'm a hunter in the Amazon
watch me hunt
but no one else dared to venture in
for fear of getting lost
or at the very least
devoured by the bugs and ickies in there.

BUT
this morning Husband donned his long socks
put his shoes on

and with weapons at hand

or rather in pockets
he took a deep breath
and said
I'm going in
and off he went.
Now this is a man who goes prepared
knowing what can happen out there with the wild things.
and after a while
I went out and offered to help
but he said
no this is a job for super he-man
you must use tools to get these giants out
........
as I pulled two or three
with my bare hands
Look I said
I have super huMAN strength
I will help clear the prairie
along side you husband....

and promptly got distracted
by these

magnolia seeds

copper leaves

wild sunflowers

pretty purple posies...

things that make you sneeezeeee
...

then the critters starting climbing up my legs
......
you should get yourself some big baggy pants
he said
and wrap string around the bottoms
and wear socks and shoes
out here in the wilderness

I don't do pants..... big  baggy or otherwise
or socks
I wouldn't have made much of a Pioneer Wife either
I will admit it
openly and freely
I am a
WIMP.

I was sent inside to do what I do best
make coffee and sandwiches
to keep the
resident clearer of the land
fortified

then the mail lady came with a box
the gas can was here
so long story short
he filled the mower

with all the things it needed
and there were
3
to keep it lubricated he said
so it had the strength to get through
the tundra
Zooom it went
chug chug chug
and off we go
and I can't tell you
although it was a couple of hours or a bit more
and it was hard on him
and he had a great fear of being
attacked by all kinds of creatures
out there in the long grass
he did it
we have our garden back
the way it should be
almost
it is not perfect
it is not even pretty

with all the dead and dying "grasses"
but it is cut
and HE did it

and he will do it again
not because I say so
but because he likes things
just so
and when it is
 just so
it will be winter and then spring
and then we will
do it all over ag-in.

Now a little side note....
none of the neighbours have kept their lawns in tip top shape this year either
we have been a very messsy unkempt bunch this year
the baby boomers are rebelling!!!!
Only Mr Persnickety across the road has been neat and tidy
but that is because he has a riding mower and very small children
and a smaller  yard....
so he doesn't count.
and now that ours is done
THEIRS look really bad!!!
Ain't that a HOOT!!!!

Yeah for the man with the rockets in his pockets!!!!!

more sun....

Yes I bought another bunch of sunflowers!!
they are cheap and they last a long time
so why not!!!?

I actually put them outside for a bit
and took these in the sun
that promptly went behind some dark clouds
and I had to hurry and get them inside.

It rained for a little bit
but I wasn't going to drag them out again...

remember the dried up little roses I showed a couple so weeks back
they are coming back beautifully
amazing what happens when you let the rain fall on them

until I know I won't be stung
this is as close to that bench
as I get.
the husbands wounds are healed
he had a large welt
where the little devil stung him
but he (hubs) is fine
 ....

this one looks like it's the white rose
....
so I bid you peace
and
a good day.

Thank you for all the
thank yous for
the "tuts"
I may just make it a regular thing...
we'll see...

Outside...

I went...

the resident architect
is trying to level Nature!!

This is one of the hands that does all of the work around here!!!

He decided to move the concrete bench from under
the bush that had grown over it

but took a second to wave HI to you!

and make you a pretty bird shadow!!!
on the seat....

in here is a nest of yellow jacket wasps....

guarded by this little lady
While he tried to make everything perfect
as he does
I took pictures of what ever caught my eye
as I do
shadow roses

dead but still interesting

look how the rain has turned the spruce blue again!!

anyway
me being me
I got bored waiting for the perfect level bench to be finished
and I came inside
cos it was coffee time and I needed my cup
I also made a few of these
cos we don't have enough outside!

while the coffee was making...

all hell broke loose and
in through the door came husband
full tilt
ripping his shirt off
and  whipping it round his head.....

on the floor dropped a lone wasp
which was dispatched instanly

Yes folks
the wasps got him
and his perfect bench
they are now swarming outside in the front of the house
and

that is why I stay inside and make what is outside!!!!!
