I use US terms because I don't know anything else
use whatever yarn you choose and the hook that goes with it
I used a big hook so the stitches showed up
sorry about the lousy lighting
but we don't have any today
ok here we go
this is not my design or invention or creation
it is a flower made with the
popcorn stitch
plain and simple
if you want to add petals you can
just make more sc in the beginning
this is for a
6 petal flower
:)
make a magic loop
or ch 4 and make a loop
make 6 sc in loop
if keeping same colour don't
fasten off
if not
fasten off!!
join new colour
ch 3 counts as first dc and make 4 more dc in same place
you will have 5 dc
(first petal)
take the hook out of the yarn
and put the hook in the top of the first dc
put the hook back in the loop of the last stitch made
and
pull the yarn through
and the stitches will scrunch up together
and you have your first
popcorn
!!!
ch 1
and in the next sc in the beginning loop
make 5 dc again
repeat
take out the hook put it in the top of the first dc and pull the loop through
do this in all the sc in the centre
you should have 6 popcorn's at the end!!
and soon you will have
a popcorn flower of you very own
if you make trebles instead of the doubles
your flower will be a little bigger and floppier
you can even add stitches to the petals if you want and make them bigger
it's fun and easy to make them
use them for embellishments or join them all together and make something cute
like a necklace or on the end of a plain scarf
or in a pattern as on a pillow
I'm going to try that
some day
:)
this is the wrong side and you can see it's quite a thick little thing
squishy and squashy and puffy too
hope you try it and if there is something wrong with the pattern
please say so and I'll fix it
enjoy
:)

Laughing at Valeria's comment! Bravo for publishing! :)
ReplyDeleteAwwwwww! Your so sweet for not letting the person get to ya. You can't claim a stitch, duuh! You go woman! Thank you.
ReplyDeleteDon't forget to add this tut to your tabs :')
ReplyDeleteThank you, Marilyn! I definitely have to try this out soon! They are so cute :)
ReplyDeleteAnd about "forbidding" someone to post whatever... Valeria is absolutely right! It's your blog, you can post whatever you'd like--if someone doesn't like it, they can just...stop reading ;) right?!
Thanks again!

Hola. Preciosa flor¡¡¡¡
ReplyDeleteHi Marilyn, I've been away and offline for the past week.
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear Irene didn't cause damage in your area. Flooding is always gonna be an issue especially in places that aren't used to such rains. I hate the way the media takes everything these days and talks the hell out of it before anything ever even happens. All the what if's really are a waste of time.
It still boggles my mind that one blogger would tell another that they couldn't post something. I've seen the popcorn flower stitch all over the place. It isn't anything new. Some people won't do anything unless they get something in return (usually financial or recognition) and that's just wrong especially since they didn't create it to begin with. I can't even tell you how many projects I've bookmarked in the past weeks to try. :/ But school starts full time on Monday so my time will be limited once again.
Take care and keep creating! I love to see what you are up to. Best wishes, Tammy
