Karma's a bitch

..........

 isn't she?

I complained about too much hooky stuff on this

blog of nothingness

and

for almost two weeks 

hooky stuff was not for me

whether I wanted it or not

yarn arrived for the continuation of the white lacy blanket

and I started on it

wondering if it would ever be finished

as it is one of those

"I see it I want it and I have to have it now"

projects

that is 

quite truthfully 

quite a boring job

but I still love it and want it

but Karma decided to teach me a lesson

she took away the ability to sit and hook

my shoulder flared up and for days I suffered on the couch

sometimes in silence

other times

not so much

after the third degree from husband.....

it's a pinched nerve

muscle cramp

joint pain

hot and painful

too much leaning on the elbow

and 

too much elbow bending'

but not of the alcoholic type

(sometimes I think I should start all the things I never did)

being one of those annoying people who don't and can't take drugs

other than Tylenol

I  just waited for the pain to go away

so

I watched movies and the shows I tape

and decided I really like Scandinavian shows

and Italian shows

but not so much the French and German ones

except

 the German one

 that is written by an American

and takes place in Venice

and all the names and places are Italian

but they all speak German

confused much!!

anyway

I survived and more importantly so did husband 

who after a few days insisted I take a baby aspirin

or 12

and it helped a bit

so I am on the way back from the pit of pain and torture

I can get up without yelling or grunting

I tried to do something of the hooky kind

the worst season of the year 

in my humble opinion

Halloween is over

and husband says one can tell what season of the year it is around here

by the napkins

it is a brilliant shiny blustery day today

and it makes you smile just to see it

those never disappointing sparkles

today is a good day for

them all

weird Wednesday

it's wet and windy out there

and sticky too

the record for the highest low temperature was broken last night

it stayed in the '70's

we turned the a/c back on 'coz it was so humid

it's almost 80 deg F out there

it's going to rain all day and get very windy

(what's the symbol for shoulder shrug?)

the colours have started

and we do desperately need the rain

so no real complaints

it's just weird to feel the warmth in the wind

.....

and stitching continues

while the outside tries to make up its mind

as to what

2 V's make a W on a Wednesday

I've been messing around with the ends left over from the stash busting

(is that even English?????)

Little bits and pieces sitting around ready to be worked into some random idea that floats in and out of the noggin

I like V-stitches

big ones and small ones

so I worked on a V-stitch block

not a hard thing to do

after a couple of adjustments and tweaks

the top left corner is the final result

not sure about the corners tho'

maybe bumped up against some others it would sit better

just some wandering and wondering 

on a Wednesday

the weather is so nice right now

sun and blue sky

warm breezes

and cool nights 

with a full moon lighting up the lake

no,

when last we were here

I was hoping to get this done...

well 

it got a couple more rows and a semblance of an edging and then it got too hot and heavy so I 

did other things....

my oven is a pain in the bum and likes to over brown things these days... hate it.... 

like .....

pie making and baking

and also a banana bread was made

but not photographed

when I started crocheting a million years ago I used to make what is now called 

granny stripes...only I didn't use more than one colour

I suddenly remembered how to 

so I did

I started one and just seem to have kept going

I have a lot of yarn to use up

still

and at some point went out and did some shopping

the have to kind 

and the want to kind

and I wanted to put the photo's I won into some frames

so I found two frames in the dusty messy shop

and brought them home...

 along with the have to haves

and oh

there's the banana bread or what's left of it

don't you love having a full fruit plate!!!???

and more apples to make more appley things with

and we can't go too much longer without a

glimpse of the lake

with the beginnings of sparkle time

it's been so gloomy of late it's really nice to see blue water again

but not a goose to be seen

anywhere...

I miss them

and just coz this was front and centre

yelling

I moved this a matter of a couple of feet and it's taken off like a

giant fern 

more sunshine and shadows and see how green it still is

and as it's time to go

the only way I know how I make stitches

 is to make them

and I don't think mine are any better than most

but thank you!!!!

I've been crocheting for a really long time

 so I don't really think about it anymore

if you are new to hooking

...

practice makes perfect

...

and if it 's not perfect

keep hooking

!!!!!

make sure the hook compliments the yarn

try one size up or down

unless you have to have a precise measurement

make lots of wash cloths or scarves

 to practice stitches

and most of all don't sweat it

and have fun

it's supposed to take the stress away

not add to it

!!!
